DeacPost “God’s Grace by Another Name”

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Melody Beattie – author and blogger

Gratitude is pretty powerful stuff, transforming everything it touches; us most of all! It doesn’t mean that we won’t have bad days or times wishing this situation or that person was more to our liking and comfort.

We’ll have such moments, but here’s the thing: if we accept gratitude as God’s grace by another name, it grounds us in what we do have. That is, the gift of Jesus – a strong foundation for thanksgiving.  When we welcome these gifts of grace and gratitude we can’t help but overflow. We become “vehicles for God’s love and joy in this world, until we offer the full and perfect praise forever.”

Prayer: Giving God, we humbly thank you for the transforming work of Jesus. Let it call us to share the joy of salvation with a world in deep need of the Good News we bring. In his life-changing name, we pray. Amen.
