DeacPost “Waiting”

For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him…Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:5,8

Waiting is something we all experience — for big things and little things. For the end of Covid, the right time to travel, a new job or retirement. We wait for news, a biopsy, or test results. We wait for peace within relationships or in the world. We wait for a depression to pass, or a death. And now, in the midst of Advent, we, like Sarah and Mary, wait for a birth.

I think of waiting. While, I wait, I know God is with me. Do you also envision waiting with Christ as we journey in God’s love? There is power in in John 3:16, and that power is bestowed on us while we wait again this year – our souls silenced in awe – remembering God is our refuge, our shelter, our support. God is waiting with us. Waiting for us.

Prayer: Holy God and Creator, you have given us the promise of your shelter. You are with us always and in every part of our journey. Thank you for your steadfastness as we wait. Forgive us when we forget to rely on you. Help us to unburden our hearts to you; give us shelter and the assurance that you are with us. In your Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
