DeacPost “A Tale of Two Pinecones” Deaconess Bonita Fredel

I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10b
I see two pinecones laying on the labyrinth’s path. One is dry, brown and looks exhausted. The scales are spread apart, the seeds dispersed. I feel like that dried up cone — weary. Both I and my days are spent. I’ve given my care. I’ve exhausted my efforts to help others discover a freer, more abundant life in Jesus.
As I walk on, I see another cone. It is fresh, green and ready to open abundant seeds of new growth. It smells fragrant. The Spirit invites me to become the fresh green cone. I know there are welcoming arms offering me encouragement to open up, to be fresh and lively again. I am ready to share the love of Jesus with those whose lives I touch — with those who are looking, longing, for a fresh free life.
Prayer:  God of open arms, thank you for encouragement to bring your love when we are tired and spent. Give us your Spirit so that we may gift others with your abundant life. Amen.
