DeacPost “What Message Are We Conveying?”

And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 (NRSV)
The car CD was playing my favorite LDC recording, “Servant Songs” as I was about to drive off with my two granddaughters. Five-year-old Zoe commented: “Grandma, you play a lot of church music.” Seven-year-old Anna, piped up: “That’s because Grandma’s religious.”
I chuckled at the children’s observations and commentary. The girls caught more than they could imagine. Our choice of music, books, and words all reflect what is on our minds and hearts. Whether we or they realize it or not, we are always witnessing to our faith.
What messages are we conveying? Will others know we are Jesus’ followers? Are we giving a positive witness for our God?
Prayer: Lord, may your light shine through us so that others will see our good work and give glory to God. In your name we pray, Amen.
