DeacPost “Time Matters”

For ‘All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord endures for ever.’ 1 Peter 1:24-25a

Tick, tick, tick…
The wind-up clock sitting on the table reminded me of the one my grandma had in her bedroom when I was a child.

Tick, tick, tick…
Each second sounded; each breath counted.

Tick, tick, tick…
We each, like grass, have a limited time on this earth.

Tick, tick, tick…
Praise God from whom all blessings flow, now.

Tick, tick, tick…
Love your family, friends, and enemies, now.

Tick, tick, tick…
Give thanks to God for all you have, now.

Tick, tick, tick…
Reach out and lift someone up, now.

Tick, tick, tick…
Share who God is and what God has done for you, now.

Tick, tick, tick…
Our flesh fails, but the word of God endures forever.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the reminder that each second is a gift from You. Help me to not waste the time I have on things that quickly fade away, but to focus on what endures forever. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
