DeacPost “Left, Right & Center”

“Pilate asked him, ‘What is truth?” John 18:38

These days, Pilate’s famous question seems appropriate when one tries to discover what is really true. A new term, ‘misinformation’ (aka Fake News) has been coined by those who want us to believe that in our search for ‘truth’ we are being deliberately misled. News agencies that present their own biases in reporting as truth often cause division between friends, families and countries. Surely, we live in a difficult time, a divisive and dangerous time.

Still, the Good News remains that there is there is One Truth, and that Truth is Jesus. Because he is one with the Father who is eternal and unchangeable. Jesus is neither Left nor Right, but the Center of Life. He has offered himself to us saying, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

We look to Jesus, our Center — the unchangeable Truth — and walk with him as he calls us to live lives of compassion, forgiveness and hope. Left? Right? As Believers, we look to our eternal Center, who grounds us in his unchangeable Truth.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, with so much news that is meant to pull us in one direction or another, be with us, ground and steady us, with your unchanging Truth of love  Amen.
