DeacPost “God Shows Up” – Deaconess Diane Marten

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.   Proverbs 3:5-6 (GENT)

Who remembers the classic silent film melodramas? Little Nell is in trouble.  The villain ties her to the railroad track.  As the piano accompaniment becomes more dramatically tense it seems that “Oh, no! She’ll never get out of this one!”  Then along comes Tex, on a white horse, who hears her cry and saves her in the nick of time.

Sometimes, I think we’re on that white horse. It seems as though God interrupts our intended journeys to put us in the path of someone in need.  God has assigned us the “rescuer” task.  Other times maybe the person in need is “God who shows up” to redirect our plans, inviting our help. Sometimes, it may seem like a melodrama, but actually, we are just being called to service — again.

Prayer:  God, help us to keep our eyes on you and open for those opportunities to which you direct us.  We praise you for “showing up” in all ways and in every situation.  Amen.
