The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! — Lamentations 3:22-23
Six inches of snow on the driveway was looming over me as I headed home and shoveling accumulated snow is not my favorite task. I’d worked late, it was going to be dark and I was exhausted from a long week.
Nevertheless, I mentally geared up for the task ahead and then, upon arriving home, I found the driveway already plowed. I still don’t know by whom, but someone’s kindness interrupted my winter weather blues leaving me feeling loved, cared for and welcomed home.
In the winters of our lives, when we are surrounded by the cold, the dark and accumulating ‘snow’, we can rejoice knowing that God, too, interrupts our exhaustion and work with unexpected paths of grace that continually welcome us home.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for reminding us that you are ever-present in our lives—and often through the kindness of others. Help us to see you in everyday graces, and to serve you in grace towards others. Amen.
