DeacPost “The Importance of Being Present”

“…And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

A wise person once said, ”You may visit the past and the future, but you can’t live there.”

We are called to give most of our time and attention to life in the present.  There are tasks and missions for us to do that need us NOW. Our vocations in family, church and community have purposes for us to fulfill.  Escapes to the past or future are for the occasional cognitive getaways.

Being present also speaks to “presence,” that gift that supports persons in our lives.  Being present with family and neighbors helps to foster security, stability and peace.  The Good News here is that Christ is always present for us.  The Divine Presence we find nurtured through the Word and Sacraments makes it possible for us to be present in those places where we are needed.  Being present is a gift and challenge,  blessed by our Divine Brother, Christ.

Prayer: Be present in our life, oh Lord.  Be here and everywhere adored.  Your people bless and grant that we, may share your presence and your servants be. Amen
