There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
When speaking of the weather, we Midwesterners are fond of saying we like the changing seasons. But we also experience other seasons, life changing seasons: going off to college, starting new families, experiencing the birth of a child, grieving at the loss of a loved one. I’ve experienced each of them, including the pain of that last one.
Not too long ago was another heart-rending season. We downsized, selling our house and moving to a retirement community. As in all seasons, this one provided transition to another – from uprooting to a time to plant new relationships. There is comfort in the reality that God is present in every season and place.
Prayer: God of all seasons, thank you for your presence in our lives. Help us to be keenly aware of your closeness and support each day. Guide and guard us in each new season of life with its experiences, opportunities, and relationships. In your holy name we pray. Amen.
