DeacPost “I Can Feel It”

Whenever you enter a town and its people welcome you…cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you’. Luke 10:8-9

My son lay comatose in the hospital, not expected to survive the night. The call for prayer went out to family, friends, and deaconesses across the country.

The next day, Jon was still in a coma, but alive. The Doctor said it was a miracle. I told him that people all over the country were praying for both Jon and him. With a smile, the Doctor said, “I can feel it.”

It was to be months before Jon came out of that coma. But the memory of that doctor’s belief in the power of prayer has stayed with me for over 40 years. I can still “feel it”.

Prayer:  Thank you for those who both cure the sick and who, in their own deep faith, witness to the kingdom of God. Thank you for answering the prayers of the faithful. Amen.
