As we wind down this year of celebrating our 100 years of history, we also look forward to what God has in store in the next 100 years. Our students are our future. They come from many places and bring varied and valuable gifts to our community. The LDA often uses the slogan “Nothing Typical Here” and that describes those who seek out the LDA to live out their calling to Word and Service ministry. Our current students range in age from 19 to 62. They are college students, Fulbright Scholars, grandmothers, veterans, campus chaplains, social workers, prison chaplains, church musicians, teachers, and retirees. They come from a variety of Lutheran backgrounds, as well as some new to the Lutheran world. They are women and men, but above all, they are beloved children of God who have heard a special call in their lives – a call to serve others and to take up the basin and towel to wash the feet of a weary world. Students come to us through church conferences and conventions, through deaconesses and deacons, and through friends of the LDA who recognize that God is doing something special in these people’s lives. Who might God be leading you to talk to about the LDA?
