I will lift up my eyes to the hills — from where will my help come? The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore. Psalm 121:1;8
I felt very alone driving a 30-foot motor home from Oregon to Alaska that year. I was to volunteer with the Alaska Missions for Christ and it meant leaving early before the “season” started, traveling through “foreign” territory and driving on a two-lane highway before the winter roads were repaired. There were few open gas stations, RV parks or other services. I remember crying at the end of each day, frightened to continue and scared to turn back.
Then one day, as I turned a corner on the Alaskan Highway, there was a mountain — beautiful and stately. As I lifted my eyes to the hills, I remembered that I was not alone. It was like God’s ‘rainbow sign’ on Noah’s journey; God had been with me all along, directing my travels.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for giving us signs of your protection and guidance. Amen.
